About Me
Hey again, I'm Vince 👋
Why software engineering?
Coding since 2021. Problem-solving since 2008. Cold since 2003. 🥶
I'd be lying if I said I always knew I wanted to be a software engineer. Honestly, software engineering wasn't even on my radar until the week before I had to lock in my degree.
What I did know was this: nothing is more satisfying than solving a hard problem.
Whether it was Mathematics and Chemistry in high school, Data Structures and Algorithms at UNSW, or shipping complex code at Atlassian, the feeling has always been the same — going to bed completely stuck, then waking up with a path forward. Ignore the hours of tossing and turning in between.
So software engineering? More of a means than an end. And the end isn't early retirement — those dreams are probably cooked now anyway. The end is simpler than that: a career that still feels rewarding on Monday morning.
Most Mondays at least.
What else besides software engineering?
When I'm not delivering shareholder value, you'll find me
- kickboxing and gymming (I look like I've not stepped 50 metres within a gym in my life)
- rewatching how i met your mother (the children yearn for yearning)
- at my local Oporto (single-handedly funding expansion plans)
- teaching Chemistry at Peak HSC (shoutout to the one student who liked my classes enough to leave a google review)
